Geoff Sims
Geoff was born in 1958. He is married with 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren. He currently works in an office in Nottingham. After a fairly negative experience of art college in the 70's (Geoff is colour-blind), art took something of a back-seat. He carried on painting and drawing but this work remained his private storyboard for an imaginary "lost" film.
German Expressionist film from the silent era has been of great interest to Geoff ever since he discovered a book on the subject in a local library at the age of 10, the same place that he saw a still of Irma Vep (a character in the French silent movie 'Les Vampires'), who became his first muse, but that's another story! Although it would be years before he saw the actual films these stills came form, the images filled his head with wonders. At the same time Geoff spent large amounts of time poring over his older brother's Marvel comics (especially attracted to the work of Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko), saw Aubrey Beardsley's work for the first time, watched old Universal Studio horror films on late night television and generally enjoyed an vivid inner-visual life.
This heady brew of imagery festered away nicely until Geoff felt it was time to forget the "lost" film and pen & ink it into life.
