Glyn Smyth / Scrawled Design
Aside from a lifelong love of comics, Glyn Smyth's main introduction to the world of graphic art came through skateboarding and hardcore punk in his teenage years. Although he loved the rich visual language of all these cultures, Glyn never saw himself as an artist. As time went on however, he found himself constantly creating flyers, shirt designs and providing graphic design for bands and promoters associated what could be called the DIY underground.
Years later, Glyn is still at it and says its the only thing that makes sense, whether its designing an album cover, drawing a t-shirt or printing a screenprinted poster. He takes influence from a wide variety of sources, both ancient and modern, in the quest to make powerful and enduring imagery, using a range of techniques encompassing both traditional and digital media.
Glyn is proposing to exhibit a series of art prints incorporating archetypal imagery derived from dreams, folklore and other so-called pagan mythologies.
