Marianne Chinnery

Since completing a BA (Hons) degree in Fashion Studies at the University of Derby in 1996, Marrianne Chinnery has worked within the fashion industry as a Childrenswear Designer both within retail and the supply chain whilst continuing to pursue a more personal route outside of work in the form of producing bespoke clothing designs for herself and friends. Marianne was inspired to go back towards a more artistic direction by last year's Danse Macabre exhibition.

Influence for Marianne's work has come from life experiences; from thoughts and feelings, music and people along the way and encompasses discontentment, doubt, entrapment, fear of non-conformity and regret. An escape to a fantastical and grotesque world that transcends the mundane trawl of life.

Marianne uses a variety of mediums to create each piece; sculpting clay, mixed and distressed fabrics, acrylics, bits of metal and mirror to give her work depth.
