Darkwave Art
Matthew Vickerstaff graduated from Loughborough School of Art and Design in 1999. The last 8 years has seen Matthew progress from a graduate through a series of positions in Record Labels (Earache Records, Peaceville Records) and Magazines (Kerrang!) to finally see him owning various companies including Darkwave Art - graphics and art, Darkwave Press & Promotion, Darkwave Records and Darkwave Clothing as well as a founding member of the Danse Macabre exhibition. His artwork has been featured in magazines globally and seen on numerous album covers, posters and merchandise. Bands include My Dying Bride, The Breathing Process, Carcass, Deicide, The Haunted including work for such companies as Jgermeister, Necromance FX (special effects) and Pimp Clothing.
Exploring, exploiting and embracing all elements of the darker sides of life, Matthew's work takes its influences from human suffering, nightmares, noise, death and religion to name a few. Surreal moments and beautiful landscapes emerge from this immersion of the mind and senses in this hellish, Stygian world.
Working usually within the digital artwork field Matthew will produce a series of 3D works for the 2nd annual exhibition based around his fascination of box artwork.
Matthew Vickerstaff, Charlotte Thomson and Paul Bowring are the 3 organisers of Danse Macabre.
