Victoria Thorpe

Victoria is a Nottingham-based artist. The themes of her work work include the past, history and traditions, memories and ideas personal to her. Victoria particularly likes to make something that is often seen as sinister into something decorative. She is also interested in themes such as magic and dreams.

Victoria's work is decorative and detailed and although usually drawn and painted she also likes to mix together different types of media and ways of working such as combining textiles with painting. She also likes to incorporate vintage objects, printed fabrics and decorative papers to evoke memories, nostalgia and the past.

Because Victoria's work is usually so detailed and decorative, she tends to work on images of A2 and smaller, but is looking at working on a much larger scale than this.
