New York anyone?

Matt Vickerstaff and Diana More are planning a project space in New York and are looking for interested artists and creators.
Matt and Diana are setting themselves up in a Brooklyn studio space with enough room for a visiting guest artist to stop by each week. The culmination of which will be a major art show at the end of the 3 month project. The show will also feature work from other artists, not in residence, from both sides of the pond.
To help fund this project a fee will be charged to each participating artist, but this fee will also cover participation in the final exhibition. At the moment they cant confirm the price but are aiming to keep it as low as possible, around 200 dollars. Less if possible.
Submission of work by non-resident artists will include restrictions on size, work will need to be posted to the studio with a fee of around 50 dollars for each piece submitted. All shipping costs will have to be covered by the artist themself.
The aim of the project is not just to create artwork but also to get involved in open studio projects, work with the music scene and involve the press.
Matt and Diana are looking for sponsors so please get in touch if you know of anyone looking for promotion in New York or in the UK as they intend to get press coverage both sides. They would also be very interested in working with a writer to cover the project, especially the lows and the highs of such an undertaking.
For the latest information go to The New York Project page on Facebook. To find out more and see who is involved, there will be a Creative Meet Up in Nottingham at the Glee Club on Saturday 16 April at 3pm , this will be followed by a Creative Meetup in in London on 17 April at 3pm at the Black heart Camden

Danse Macabre's Travelling Sideshow Came to Town!

Danse Macabre's Pit of Curiosities took place on Friday 13th February (we do like to pick ominous dates!) at the Pit & Pendulum. It was hugely successful with around 800 people passing through the doors during the night. Once we have the photos we'll show you what me mean! The success of the event was down to the huge amount of time spent by Charlotte Thomson, Jody Capuano and Carol Savage in planning and organising the performers, costumes and props - aided and abetted on the day by Matt, Mike and Paul. We would also like to thank Jayne Hyman for her amazing Twin creation and for making up the Living Dead Doll. The night itself was a success due to the hard work of all the performers especially those that had to step into the breach at the last moment, as well as our keepers, ushers and usherettes who did a sterling task of keeping back the crowds (Zoe Dorman, Mat Douglas, Emerlad Ace, Hannah Stone, David Lankester, Laura Woods, Hannah Morgan, Dal Whittaker Robinson, Loran Paxton, Aneliese Jones, Ryan Cross, Robert Watts, Gary Dickinson, Beatrice Flowers). We would like to thank Saul our official photographer at Trent House Studios who braved the crowds to take photos and to Mike for filming what he could in a difficult low light situation - we will share these images as soon as we can. Special thanks to Susi Henson of Eternal Spirits for generously allowing our performers to wear her gorgeous corsets. Finally, but by no means least, thanks to Steve and the Pit and Pendulum for letting us have free run of the pub and making them work harder than usual! All in all the result was amazing - even if we do say so ourselves! Watch this space, we are hoping to create more events for your delectation! more info about the Pit of Curiosities...

Danse Macabre 2008: Wow, What a Show!

Danse Macabre 2008 was held at Nottingham's View From The Top gallery from 29th October to 3rd November 2008. We had an amazing attendance of 200 people at the private view on Friday 31st October. Throughout the exhibition we received loads of positive feedback and what's more, we had brilliant reviews in Zero Tolerance Magazine and the the Metro. Check out the photos for the private view on MySpace to see who was there.
